Machu Picchu is an Incas sacred city, abandoned by its inhabitants in 1532. It is still unclear what caused the decision to leave the city.
During the Spanish colonization the ghost town was forgotten, and only in 1911 was discovered by American explorer Hiram Bingham.
In 2007, Machu Picchu was included in the list of new seven wonders of the World that has provided the city an unprecedented influx of tourists. Today the complex visit two thousand tourists each day
